About 50 acres of land was bought from the diocese of Jaffna for a very nominal price. It was all like a forest and the land was cleared up and the Aspirantate building was put up. On the 8th of Feb. 2014 aspirants (33 of them) were shifted from Don Bosco Murunkan and the Aspirantate started at Mankulam. It is located in Mullaitivu district about 1.25km away from A9 road. The aspirants go to a government school 1.5km away by bicycles.


Don Bosco Mankulam community has 50 aspirants studying from grade 9 up to 13. Three Salesian fathers and a Brother look after the aspirants in their formation.




Empowering our aspirants to be propagators of the kingdom of God.



We shall accompany our aspirants in their discernment process to be able to imbibe in them the values of the kingdom of God and the beauty of the preventive system of Don Bosco in order to arrive at a holistic education of both physical and mental development.

The society of St. Francis de Sales or Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB), is a religious Congregation founded by St. John Bosco in 1859 in Turin, Italy for the purpose of helping, educating and training poor boys. To date, services of the Salesians have spread to 131 countries in the world. In Sri Lanka, the very first Don Bosco Centre was established in 1956 at Negombo. The Salesians of Don Bosco have, to date established 18 centres in different parts of the country.
