Nature of the institution
The centre has many young people especially poor and needy. There are nearly thousands of children benefiting education, recreation, spiritual nourishment, and other benefits. There are a lot of lay collaborators fully involved in the mission of the centre. The numbers of the Salesians are just five at the moment. But the numbers of activities are many. Hence the service of the lay collaborators is highly appreciated.
The community is a very busy community with full of activities. There is life and enthusiasm among the confreres, lay collaborators and the students. All the activities of the centre are directed towards the total development of the young people.
Vision:
Don Bosco Technical Centre Negombo is a home that fosters a sense of belonging, a school that imparts an all-round formation, a church that gives meaning to life and a playground where life is celebrated. With the lay collaborators, keeping Mary as our model, to build a faith filled community of young people, who will radiate the gifts of the Risen Lord, Peace, Joy and Love to the world around.
Mission
To endow with modern technical and vocational training to the most deserving and marginalized young people. By making them realized the hidden qualities they have and leading them to use the best of their ability for the good of the other.
Objectives
01.To impart total and integral development of youth is the main goal. God centered man and honest citizen.
02.To provide employment to youth through well- planned Technical training programmes
03.To groom vocations for ecclesiastical and Salesian life.
04.To spread Marian devotion.
05.To house abandoned, marginalized and poor youth (Boarding and lodging for academic and vocational formation).
