SOUTH ASIAN ECONOMER’S MEETING

VICE PROVINCE OF SRI LANKA – LKC - 5TH TO 8TH NOVEMBER 2023

Br Jean Paul Muller the Economer General, Fr. Biju Michaeal the regional superior for South Asia and all the 11 Economers from India arrived on the 5th of November 2023 to the Provincial house of Sri Lanka.

On the 6th Morning, the Holy Eucharist was celebrated by Fr. Biju Michael, the regional Superior.

The Economers meeting began at 9 am with the inaugural session. All gathered in front of the hall to be welcomed by the LKC Salesians and staff of the provincial house. A traditional dance was performed, all were welcomed with garlands and shawls. National flag, Don Bosco’s flag and Pope’s flag were hosted by Br Jean Paul, Fr. Biju and Fr. Santhanaraj the Bosconet director.

All the members took part in a short prayer service lead by Fr. Roshan Miranda the LKC provincial and welcomed them officially. The opening address was by Fr. Biju Michaeal, the regional superior for South Asia followed by the report of the previous economers meeting read out by Fr. Joy, the coordinator of the economers of South Asia.

After the break, the economer General addressed the economers on the importance of their work and presented about the Social audit that was asked by the SPCSA council. In the afternoon, the economers listened to Mr. Martin, the auditor of New Delhi via online on the updates on income tax and FCRA.

Then the assembly moved to the other assembly proceedings which were planned for the following days. The economers also considered suggestions regarding various aspects of the life of south Asia region that rose up during the assembly. The assembly concluded with the dinner on the 7th September.
